WOW, I can't believe that it's already the year 2018. Someone wake me up. 2017 came and went so quickly and it didn't wait for anybody, honey. Am I right? Last year for me was definitely full of growth, some testing times, and true self-evaluations. One of my best highlights was when I relaunched my brainchild - Style For Breakfast (after being stuck in a slump about it for a whole year) and was so happy after I did. It felt damn good. There were quite a few people that have stuck with me from the beginning even when I wasn't blogging at the time who were giving so much positive feedback. Thank you all for your support - always! When a new year comes, everyone wants to hit reset, refresh, and have a few New Years Resolutions. That's all normal.

The title of this post is called "New Year, New Thoughts...Kinda" for a reason. Yes, it is a time when you can start over with a clean slate and somewhat prepare yourselves (things you can control) for the next coming months/year. Although, it is good to take a step back monthly to see how things are coming along and if you need to make any adjustments to reach whatever your goals may be. I try to do this throughout the year, not just at one particular time of the year. We all get stuck or have a few road blocks at some point and that my friend, is going to happen. Because, life. There are a ton of ideas that popped in my head when I thought about what all I wanted to make happen this year. Some new, and some the same from last year. Last year, I kind of let my situations take control without me taking control of my situations. This caused a lot of self-doubt and unwanted energy - from myself. I learned to nip that in the bud real quick. My mindset is still the same, I just have new things that I want to accomplish this year. That being said, here are 5 ideas to help you take over 2018.

1. Declutter

If you really want to start the year of fresh, it is a great idea to declutter your space. Your home, workspace, and even your mind. If you have a closet full of things that you no longer wear, pass them along to someone who could use them. Clean out your dresser and throw away the old junk that you haven't touched in forever. Have some quiet time alone. Decluttering can also be cutting out toxic things or relationships from your life. A clean space means a clean slate.

2. Do One Thing Each Day That You Keep Putting Off

I know you've heard the phrase; "Do something today that your future self will thank you for." What's that one thing that you know you need to do, but never really get around to making it happen because you don't have the "time" or you just always put it on the back burner? Go ahead and do it. It could be the simplest thing like taking your dog for a walk after you've been at work all day (I'm guilty of it but getting better) to what may seems like one of the most difficult things such as - taking that first step to starting a new project. Believe me, each day that one step closer to whatever is it will become a huge payoff for you in some way. Make time for what you want. Go home from your regular day job (that can squeeze the life out of you if you let it) and hustle your dreams.

3. Create a Vision Board

They actually do work, y'all! I'm telling you. Have you ever decided that you wanted something - could be anything (like a new particular car) and all of a sudden you start seeing them everywhere around you, on commercials, and on the roads? Your visions can become your reality if you believe that they will, and if you put them where you can see it everyday. I made a vision board before that actually came to past. I truly believe in them. And God. You can have anything you want if you just figure out what you have to do to be able to get it. Putting what you want out into the universe, changes everrrryything.

4. Travel More

I will forever be fond of traveling because it widens your horizons and overall perspective on things. I don't want to get older and say I wish I had traveled more. I'm pretty sure you don't want that either. To really live is to see and experience new things. Traveling can lead to so many opportunities that you probably couldn't even imagine at this very second. You might get inspired to move to a different country that you've only visited once or twice. You never know who or what can make an impact on your life when you open your mind to freedom. I want to see things that I have never seen before. I want to go to all those beautiful places that I always see on National Geographic and all the travel channels. Boy, if I had Anthony Bourdain's job. But just think about it, there is a whole universe out there that is waiting to be discovered. Traveling is learning.

5. Be Yourself, Unapologetically

Ever struggled with worrying about what other people will think of you in some way if you do this, that, and the other? *raises hand* Yep, I did too. Who hasn't before? I promise you will be so much more attractive if you just be your own true self without constantly looking for approval from others. I used to think like: "oh, let me not post this because my face looks weird" or "let me not share something amazing that just happened to me because I don't want to seem like I'm bragging" Yeah, screw all that! If you just passed an exam you better shout it out loud so the world can hear how freaking amazing you are. Don't spend time playing the comparison game either because you're going to find yourself in non-healthy place emotionally. Everyone has their own different timings. Your skin is the way it is because it was meant for one person - you.

Thanks so much for reading! I really appreciate you for taking the time to just to click on this post. If you have anything that you would like to see from me, please let me know in the comments! With Christmas just around the corner you might find yourself doing lots of last minute shopping for gifts, holiday decor, things to wear to holiday parties, etc. There are only 11 days left until Christmas day and I still have not finished all of my gift shopping yet! Have you? I don't know why, but I always get it all done within a couple days before. Surely I'm not the only one. It's just something about crunch time and being under pressure that really puts that fire under my a-- for me to get a move on. But I still get it done.

Just in time for the season; I have collaborated with JORD to keep me and my time organized. Normally I'm working so much during the week and weekends throughout the holidays, I barely have time do the things that I need (and want) to do for myself or with my family. JORD  (which is the Danish meaning for "Earth" ) is a watch company that focuses on creating unique wooden timepieces modeled after a modern lifestyle. There are a wide range of women's and men's watches to choose from that are conveniently priced from $139 - $395 to find that perfect gift for yourself, or for a loved one. The JORD brand is centered on the concept of the journey, and that every second counts. Their watches are built around this core belief and their timepieces aim to tell more than just time. Additional options include watch engraving, watch sizing, and watch box engraving.

I am wearing the  "F R A N K I E " series in Dark Sandalwood & Smoke. Did I mention that this one is unisex? I love the dark wood because it can match just about anything and has just the right amount of masculinity/femininity.

I also have something special for all of you who are interested! You can click this link to receive a 25% off coupon for your purchase! It expires December 19th, so you might want to take advantage of this limited offer before it's gooooooooooone. Just go here: and enter your email address. OH, just one more thing - for a limited time only you can also enter the code ENGRAVE4FREE to get your wooden watch box engraved! Shipping is free worldwide.

Thank you JORD for sponsoring this post!

I can't believe that it's ALREADY the holidays again! I feel like this whole year just skated by with a breeze and it's not slowing down at all. If you're anything like me - I'm sure some of you prefer shopping online from the comfort of your own place rather than camping outside of a store to shop all of those Black Friday sales. Why scramble and be in the midst of crazy shoppers who have picked over everything, when you can easily click around and add those extra "discount codes" in your checkout cart with a simple click? *raises hand* That's how I'd rather shop the sales this weekend. Not trying to tempt you....but hey, when you've got your credit card number memorized then you're already ready!

I have listed some Black Friday deals for you to shop below - if I come across any other must-have deals on Cyber Monday I will update the post! Let me know what your favorites are. HAPPY SHOPPING!!!!!

What are your favorite stores to shop at during Black Friday-Cyber Monday?

Let's talk real for a minute.

Style For Breakfast is something that I've been working on forever it feels like. I'm going to be completely honest and straight up 100% real with you guys. I can be the worst when it comes to procrastination and completing something that I can't stop thinking about. Oxymoron, right? I can tell you that it has been over a year since I decided to delete my old blog and start fresh. (You can also check out my earlier post: A New Start) So many thoughts ran through my head like; "Is it good enough? Do I have enough content? Do I have good photos? Is this perfect? Should I write more? Oh shit, I don't have time to work on this today." Excuses excuses excuses. I definitely drove myself to become irritated with it and didn't even look at the process for a few months. Yep, real spill. I let my negative thoughts defeat me - temporarily. I kept on feeling guilty about not finishing what I started because I knew that there were people in my life around me - hell, people that don't even know me who were waiting on me to put my blog back out there. It felt damn good to know that, but at the same time I felt like I let myself down and just forgot about everything that I wanted to accomplish. I would kind of get annoyed when people would ask me; "When are you launching your blog?" or "How's the blog coming along?" etc. During that time, I was STILL doing all the wrong things. Spending too much time looking at social media, looking at what everyone else is doing to not try to be similar, thinking way too hard about how I could set myself apart. Just wasting way too much time on bullshit. Can I say that again? I wasted way too much time on absolute bullshit. But hey, I'm not perfect and I can admit that. My fiance has been there with me from the start. Being patient enough to take all my photos, (Lord knows he struggled with that) motivating me, pushing me harder, and comforting me when I felt all sorts of mixed emotions about it all. I applaud you, Des! Thanks for everything man. I know for a fact I am not easy to deal with. Alright, enough of the negative talk. Moving on.

What I did learn throughout the process is that there will NEVER be a perfect time for anything. I'm telling you.

Not everything is going to happen exactly the way you want it to all the time, Meghan. Some things will go wrong, your ideas will most likely change, and so on - shit happens. (excuse my language) That's just the way it is. On a more positive note; if you have a plan of action, anything that you want to accomplish CAN be done! I just knew that this was my calling when I couldn't stop thinking of what else I'd enjoy doing more on the side. I love styling, I love playing in my own closet thinking of my next post for the blog, reading other blogs, different magazines, and taking photos. As I've been getting more into visual creativity, I feel like I was made for this. I have always been connected to fashion in some type of way since like, middle school. I've also always told myself; If a career in fashion doesn't work out, I would definitely become a Crime Scene Investigator one day. I still have a passion for that field somewhere in me. Anyway, for a long time I struggled with decisions and making up my mind on how I wanted every little detail which a was a complete bust. I got nothing done. I began reading this awesome book called "You Are a Badass"  which is a self-help/personal growth book by Jen Sincero. Y'all, that book helped me realize some realness for sure.  I have been trying to force myself to read more - but this book I could not put down! Here are some important tips that stood out to me; No matter how clueless you may feel right now pay attention to suggestions and opportunities that suddenly present themselves. Take the first right step instead of wasting hours and days trying to figure out your next move, just do something already. Everything you do along your journey contributes to where you're going. Be grateful throughout the process and keep your thoughts directed at your goal! The moment you have the audacity to believe in the not-seen, your reality will begin to shift. God, isn't that the truth. Creating, envisioning, believing, in your vision board (if you don't have one - make one) is like having a craft day with God. Believe in your self. GROWTH = DISCOMFORT. We should all challenge ourselves to believe that things will work out when we put the work in. Instead of dreaming about our dreams, how about we continue to set small goals to reach that bigger goal - then we'll actually be living our dreams.

Good things come to those who don't wait up. You got this.

Zara Gingham Dress - Zara Lucite Heeled Sandals

June's (or should I say June's All Day) is one of those Austin "must visit" places to eat or grab a cup of coffee or latte. It's called June's All Day for a legit reason - you can go for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and even dinner. The atmosphere is very chill with slight retro vibes. I didn't really plan to have breakfast here, just happened to see this place while driving around South Congress (always packed) and wanted to experience it for myself. I ordered a latte and also had the most delicious melt-in-your-mouth English muffin. Omg my mouth is watering thinking about how much I enjoyed it! The menu itself looked pretty promising so I'll definitely be back to enjoy a breakfast entree. Just for a day out and about, I wanted to be comfortable with a little bit of sass so I wore this dress/jumpsuit from Zara. Yes, you probably couldn't tell but there are shorts built into this dress. Win win. I didn't plan to match the floor either, it just happened. Psychic much? I've also been wearing the heck out of these lucite heeled sandals because they're super easy to wear and walk in. I had the whole restaurant to that means photo-ops.

Alright guys. I want to make this short, sweet, and simple. I can honestly say; this sh*t isn't all. But if its your passion, and you have dreams and goals as big as the sky, then you can do anything you want to do. *cliche but real* By all means, I am not saying that this is exactly what you have to do to be a successful blogger, I am simply just putting helpful info out there that I have researched and found out on my own. As my blog is continuing to evolve, I will be happy to share any other tips that I may find helpful along the way.

1. Consistency Is Very Important

As you might already know, blogging takes a huge amount of effort. On a weekly basis you have to work on creating content for your readers if you want to see growth. I struggled with this when I first started my blog back in 2011. I barely took it serious because clearly, I had no idea back then how it could've taken off if I were to really put the work in. Not saying that you have to have a blog post published every single day 7 day a week, but you don't want to have your readers wondering where you disappeared to if you only post every now and then. (mistakes that I've made) Figure out a plan to prepare your posts for the following week. Then move on to bigger tasks like planning your content for the rest of the month. If you feel like you need a break, take one. Although consistency boosts your engagement and follower counts, you should still be true to who you are as a blogger.

2. Stay Motivated

Is it as easy as it sounds? For me, it isn't. No kidding, working a full-time job sometimes used to consume me to where I didn't have much motivation if any at all. It's certainly normal to have those brief moments when you need a push. Try something new. Break an old habit. Start reading a book that will be beneficial to you. You know that cute little 2017 planner that you bought? Use the hell out of it to keep yourself organized. Any ideas that you have, jot them down and come up with plans of action that will get you to where you want to be. Keep in mind, do not spend so much time looking at other people's work and wonder why you haven't seen the results you want just yet. Believe me - everyone has started somewhere, and maintaining a blog isn't just 1,2,3, boom, major success! Be committed to what you are investing your spare time in. You can do it, girl!

3. Take Time To Research

What are you going to blog about? If you're reading this, I am sure you probably already know or have an idea. Right? Take time to research your favorite blogs or inspiration sources to get an idea of what's out there. What type of blogs are the most interesting to you? Think of ways that you can set your blog apart from everyone else's. Although there are tons of bloggers out there who blog about fashion, you are in control of your own universe. There is enough room for everyone to make it. Come up with a different strategy. What interest you the most about fashion or beauty or whatever it is? Own it.  Find your voice, stay true to it, and people will follow to be inspired. Always be unique.

Hey! Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by. Feel free to stay as long as you please. As you may know, the Style For Breakfast blog has been on a hiatus (which seems like t h e longest time ever) - for the better. I can definitely say during the time I spent away from blogging + my social media, I was figuring out how to balance.  I knew I had to figure out how to rebuild and move forward.  I also had to learn to stop making excuses for myself because that didn't help the situation at all. Just being honest here. During that time I randomly moved to a different city (Austin) and literally had about a three-four week notice. That was crazy! But I did it.

"I knew I had to figure how to rebuild and move forward."

I can say that I did spend my time away being productive. I read books for inspiration, listened to podcasts, read other inspirational blogs, wrote down my ideas and goals, created mood boards, and so on. I figured out my vision and what was going to work for me. Before, I just could not make up my damn mind about the direction I wanted to go in. I switched platforms not once, but TWICE. First I had my blog with Blogger, then I switched to Wordpress, then from Wordpress I switched to Squarespace - which I felt that it fit the aesthetics of my vision better.

I can admit that I did have a lot of unwanted idle time in between, and I let every little thing get in the way of my productive creativity. Sometimes, it is okay to have a break and figure out exactly what you want to do, and how you want it done. I'd rather that, than putting out content that I wasn't too pleased with. I had to make myself realize that being a perfectionist just isn't going to help you get sh*t done. Because you probably won't.

"Sometimes it's okay to have a break and figure out exactly what you want to do, and how you want it done."

If you could choose something to take away from this post; I want you to remember that being yourself (your BEST self at that) is the MOST important thing you can do. Don't spend your time comparing yourself to others who have a gazillion followers because chances are.......they bought them. Just kidding. But really, growing your business, blog, everything takes time and continuous effort.

Don't think for one second that your work isn't as good enough because you don't have a huge audience. As that should not be your main goal, that will come later. CONSISTENCY is major key. Just continue to work your butt off and stay true to who you really are. People will notice that. Go for it, girl!

"I want you to remember that being yourself is the MOST important thing you can do."
