A SUMMER EDIT: THE EASE OF WEARING DRESSES

You might have seen me talk about how I couldn't get over wearing so much linen this summer. It's true. Linen is just one of those staple fabrics that you cannot avoid during the warmer months. I think I purchased around 7 or 8 pieces over the summer that are made of linen. The only pain is that it wrinkles way too easy. But that's okay, my trick for that is riding in the car with my seatbelt uncomfortably fastened or sitting in a weird position until I get out of the car. You gotta do what you gotta do sometimes. Let's talk about this dress though! I scored this dress from Free People a few months ago - which is now on sale.  At first I was worried about how low cut it was when I saw it on the website, but after I tried it on I used the wrap tie to make it appear a little less revealing in the front. When I say this is the most comfortable dress, believe it. The fabric is indeed very lightweight and breathable.

I did lots of moving around (and sweating in this dress as you can tell) I can say honestly this this is one of my favorite additions to my summer wardrobe. I just wish I could wear it more often! It has a full length button-down detail, but I left it halfway unbuttoned for a lil' leg action. Ha. The thing that I love about a versatile dress is the fact that you can wear it into the fall. You can layer with a nice suede cropped moto jacket, or even a darker denim jacket with an ankle boot to complete your look if your cooler fall weather comes sooner than our fall in Texas. If you have noticed that I linked the same dress a few times, it's because you might find that it is sold out in multiple sizes, but might be available at another one of the linked retailers in a different size. What is one of your summer must-have wardrobe essentials? Let me know in the comments!

CONNECTING THE DOTS

IMG_0942.JPG

With the weather being how it is here in Houston at this point, I'd say that we skipped right on over Spring and Straight into Summer. It has been so dang hot lately (higher 90's-100)  I barely want to spend time hanging outside during the day! Lately, I have been spending more evenings on my back porch with my dogs while eating watermelon, listening to music, and/or reading with a glass of wine or chilled rosé in hand. These types of days (especially on a Sunday) just make me so happy. On Sunday I literally spent about 5 hours in the backyard under some shade of course and enjoyed every bit of that time.

If you follow me on the 'Gram, then you probably already saw in my caption on the first photo that I posted from this blog post about how I am so into linen for this Spring/Summer. This top that I am wearing here isn't really linen, it just feels like it. I was sold on the detailing. Double tie-knots, cropped, AND comfortable. May I add that it's also currently on sale?! And when have polka dots ever gone out of style? Never! Lately I have been adding lots of linen pieces like this particular dress, and this top (which is now sold out - but could restock) to my list of what I'd like to wear soon. I couldn't help but to wear this polka dot top with a pair of white denim like these Joan high rise wide-leg cropped from J-Brand. I actually pictured this entire outfit in my head before I even bought the pants. Does anyone else do that? If you click the link and view the pants on the website, you can see that the hem isn't raw. Well, I love the look of  raw hem jeans a little bit better so I cut them myself! Yes, I was brave enough to take the risk and tailor them to my liking even though they were pretty pricey. But OH so worth it. I'm sure that I'll wear the heck out of these until Labor Day when the rule "says" that you should stop wearing white. Who cares? I'd wear these pants in the Winter with an ivory or white sweater and call it my Winter white look. What fashion-dares have you considered/done? Let me know your thoughts! Thank you so much for reading! You could be any place on the web, but you're here with me. <3

SHOP 'TIL YOU DROP - MEMORIAL DAY 2018 SALES

2ac5989a22718bde45ff091872fcd12e.jpg

Firstly, we can't forget why we celebrate Memorial Day. Yes, it is a nice long weekend for relaxing by the pool while enjoying BBQ but we should still pay our respects by saying a quick prayer for families who have lost their loved ones while serving our country. I have military in my family (none of them have lost their lives while serving - thankfully) so I have a great respect for our veterans.

Since Summer is quickly approaching, I have been shopping so much. Lord help me....and my wallet. In my previous post I mentioned that I have been buying so many dresses, skirts and tops with tortoise buttons. Don't ask why - it just happened that way and I am in love with everything that I Have purchased/ordered. I literally had like 8 packages delivered (no exaggeration) in the past week. Not sure how I avoided my fiancè asking me what the hell I have been buying  but I finessed my way through. Hahaha.

Take a peek below at what's been in my carts + what's on my Summer wardrobe inspirations list and take advantage of these too-good-to-pass-up sales!

The funny thing is, nothing that I'm wearing in this post is vintage. I really just wanted to feel light and comfortable this day - then ended up looking like a thrift store junkie. Cool. If you follow me on Instagram you have probably seen this Cult Gaia Ark bag countless times (and it doesn't stop) it has been the perfect companion all Summer with jeans, dresses, shorts, whatever. Honestly, I haven't really been feeling H&M too much lately. I used to find pieces there all the time but lately its been here and there. I went around July and found these perfect pair of lightweight mom shorts. Not only did they fit super cute when I tried them on, but they gave me allllll the vintage feels.

Zara Crop Top - GRLFRND Denim - Cult Gaia Ark Bag - Windsor Store Mules

I couldn't believe I had to wait at least 3 months for these GRLFRND jeans to be restocked! (I feel like that's the story of my life) I've had my eye on them for a while before I finally decided to pull the trigger; then the worse thing that could happen, happened. They had a waitlist for my size. They fit pretty true to size but there's not much of a stretch to them at all. I have literally been wearing these all Summer. Took them on my recent trip to New York and I can tell you, they really do accentuate the length of your legs. I am already on the average/taller height but I love how these jeans make me look so tall and lean. Can't forget to mention the side splits. Yesssssss. I feel like I can just wear these with a swimsuit top and get away with it. And I probably will.
